HELLO, GOODBYE is a romantic comedy that takes place between the twin cities of Shanghai and Liverpool. It is the story of Genevieve, an aristocratic young woman who is terrified that her suave and successful Chinese boyfriend Zhang will discover that she is really just Jenny — a regular scouse lass from a Merseyside council estate. It is intended as a treaty coproduction between the United Kingdom and China.

The film was announced at an MOU signing ceremony was also attended by Baroness Fairhead, Minister for State at the Department for International Trade.

CIIE was proposed by President Xi Jinping as part of China’s transformation to a consumer economy. It is one of the biggest trade fairs in history, attended by over 400,000 people, including President Xi and other international VIPs such as HRH the Duke of York.

After the signing ceremony, Clipper’s Jake Alexander was interviewed by CCTV, and the interview was aired on three separate news broadcasts, including Xinwen Lianbo (新闻联播), the evening news programme which is shown on all major Chinese channels and — with a regular audience of well over 100 million people — is the most watched daily TV programme in the world.
