Clipper signs coproduction deal with CCTV

As part of the state visit of Chinese vice-premier Liu Yandong (刘延东), Clipper signed a cooperation deal with CCTV 12 in the presence of Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP (pictured left), and Vice Minister Tong Gang (童刚, right) of the State Administration for Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China.

Under the deal, Clipper will support CCTV 12 when it undertakes production activities in the UK, and CCTV 12 will give reciprocal support to Clipper in China.

The signing ceremony was preceded by a bilateral meeting between high level officials from DCMS and the Department for International Trade on the UK side, and SAPPRFT on the Chinese side.

The state sector plays a very active role in the media landscape in China, and therefore forging strong relationships with the all-powerful SAPPRFT and state broadcaster CCTV will be highly advantageous to Clipper and its western partners when doing business in the PRC. Vice Minister Tong Gang, for example, is a household name among Chinese media professionals.
